Electronic waste collection center set up March 20
January 30, 2004 -- The first-ever collection center for used computers and other electronics has been established Saturday, March 20, from 8 a.m. to noon. The location is 7884 La Palma Ave., Buena Park, behind Crystal Factory at the southeast corner of Beach Boulevard and La Palma at the parking lot exit for Knott’s Berry Farm.
There will be a t $10 donation assessed for the collection for recycling of electronics such as computers that cannot be disposed of in landfills. Throwing such items away is illegal.
Environmentally-safe disposal is planned at the community electronics recycling event.
The event is hosted by Buena Park Noon Lions in cooperation with Computers2Schools.org, a project of Image Arts Foundation and its founder, Chris Pflanzer. A main thrust of the project is to refurbish computers for donation to schools, getting electronics into the hands of school children in cities throughout Southern California, as well as the safe and legal disposal of the items.
