Image Arts Foundation signs
Recycler's Pledge of True Stewardship
October
17, 2003, BUENA PARK -- Image Arts Foundation, the grassroots
organization known for placing refurbished computers into southern
California schools, has launched a new website to increase exposure
regionally. The new website can be found at www.computers2schools.org.
Image Arts Foundation has signed
and accepted the Recycler's Pledge of True Stewardship, considered
the most rigorous standard in computer recycling. The nonprofit
organization Image Arts Foundation runs Computers2Schools.org, which
collects, refurbishes and distributes computers into schools.
"Children deserve the best
we can give them," says Chris Pflanzer, executive director of
the organization. "That means providing the best learning tools
available, and it means doing the right thing with equipment that
can't be salvaged."
Image Arts Foundation has placed
several hundred computers into local schools that otherwise could
not include them in their daily curriculums. The organization is the
only one of its type that has met the standards laid out in the
pledge. Among other things, the pledge states that all electronic
waste must be disposed of using environmentally-friendly procedures
in the United States using non-prison labor.
